PORT OF LARNE WELCOMES NEW FREIGHT SERVICE
Irish Sea ro-ro ferry operator, Seatruck, has announced the start of a new freight service between Larne and Heysham. Initially operating with one ship – Clipper Ranger, making 6 round trips a week – Seatruck say that the route will further enhance their existing Irish Sea route network.
Commenting on the announcement, Larne’s Managing Director, Keith Millar said “We are delighted that Seatruck are going to operate from Larne. We have known for some time that the company wanted to grow their Irish Sea business and it’s obvious that they recognise the value of Larne in those plans.”
“This freight-only service will complement the existing operations and further strengthens Larne’s position as a key hub port for ro-ro services on the Irish Sea. When the Seatruck service starts we will have three ferry operators in Larne – Seatruck, P&O Ferries and Stena Line. This gives the logistics operators a choice of four destination ports – Troon, Cairnryan, Fleetwood and now Heysham.”
