| Larne Port Control (LPC) is operated from Larne Port Control Centre on a continuous 24 hour basis to provide a safe and efficient regime for vessel traffic and protection for the environment. | ||
| Larne Port Control provides the co-ordination and communications centre for the Port of Larne Pilotage Service, and the pilot boarding and landing activities at the Pilot Station. | ||
| Larne Port Control is manned by internationally qualified VTS Officers and operated in accordance with IMO Resolution A.857 (20), MGN 238, MGN 239, and MGN 240. | ||
Larne Port Control provides a Traffic Organisation Service with the authority of the Harbour Master. Failure, without good cause, to obey an instruction given by Larne Port Control with the purpose of preserving marine safety, may constitute an offence.
VTS AreaFrom the seaward limit of the port from a line joining Black Cave Head (54º 52’·6N 5º 49’·3W), South Hunter Rock Light-buoy, 2½ miles E, Skernaghan Point, 1 mile South, and Barr’s Point, 5 cables West. The South limit is a line joining Curran Point (54º 50’·4N 5º 48’·0W) and a point on the foreshore of Islandmagee, 8 cables East. Plus the approaches to and from this area of jurisdiction.
